The short version
Your file is used for one thing: producing the result you asked for. Nothing else. Nobody reads it, nothing is shared, and server copies are cleaned up automatically every day.
Tools that work entirely in your browser
Several tools process everything on your own device — your file never leaves your computer or phone. These include the PDF merger, PDF page delete, PDF signature, image cropper and background remover, plus text tools like the JSON formatter and password generator (which never involve a file at all).
Tools that process on our servers
Conversions that need heavy software — Word/PowerPoint to PDF, video and audio conversion, HEIC decoding, OCR, PDF rendering — upload your file to our server, run the conversion, and hand you back a download link.
Those files live in a temporary storage area. An automated cleanup job deletes old files every day, so both your upload and your converted result are removed from the server within 24 hours — usually much sooner. We keep no copies and no backups of your files.
What we never do with your files
We never open, read, or analyze the contents of your files. We never use them to train anything. We never share, sell, or transfer them to anyone. Download links are long, random, and not listed anywhere public.
Passwords you type into tools
The Protect PDF tool asks for the password you want to lock your PDF with. That password is used once, in memory, to encrypt your file — it is not logged and not stored. Keep it safe: a password-protected PDF cannot be opened without it.
A practical tip
For highly sensitive documents, prefer the browser-only tools where possible, and always keep your original file — converted outputs are deleted on our side and cannot be recovered once the daily cleanup runs.
